Wife, Mom, Founder, Author, Psychotherapist

Andrea Dorn, MSW, is a mom and licensed clinical social worker (LISW-CP) and has had an interest in mindfulness since first learning about its benefits in graduate school. Since that time, Andrea has worked to incorporate mindfulness into every aspect of her life. She has found mindfulness to truly transform the lives of everyone it touches.

Sometimes, mindfulness requires patience and quietly listening to your heart. The Mindful Steps series is a testimony to this idea. After a year of several big life changes, (with two young children in tow). Andrea recognized a lack of non-fiction resources, especially for children who may struggle with transitions. Andrea became interested in writing children's books as a way to fill this gap and discovered a true passion for the entire writing and publishing process. The Mindful Steps series was ultimately created as culmination of her interest and background in the subjects of behaviorism and mindfulness, and her own strong-willed child who could have greatly benefited from a step-by-step guide book during big transitions in his little life.

Mindful Families, LLC was inspired by the desire to create a space to share mindfulness resources intended to build family connections. Still early in its inception, Andrea hopes to continue to grow Mindful Families to be a welcoming, accessible, and useful place for all who enter.

Andrea currently works in South Carolina as a psychotherapist with children and adults of all ages. In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband, two amazing kiddos, and dog, Charlie, traveling, writing, making meaningful connections with others, and dancing.  Andrea is dedicated to helping small minds calm their bodies and process new skills and big changes.
